Peacework has been published monthly since 1972, intended to serve as a source of dependable information to those who strive for peace and justice and are committed to furthering the nonviolent social change necessary to achieve them. Rooted in Quaker values and informed by AFSC experience and initiatives, Peacework offers a forum for organizers, fostering coalition-building and teaching the methods and strategies that work in the global and local community. Peacework seeks to serve as an incubator for social transformation, introducing a younger generation to a deeper analysis of problems and issues, reminding and re-inspiring long-term activists, encouraging the generations to listen to each other, and creating space for the voices of the disenfranchised.

Views expressed are those of the authors, not necessarily of the AFSC.

Building Homes, Building Peace: AFSC to Help Rebuild Homes Demolished in Palestine

AFSC is launching a housing reconstruction project centered in the hardest-hit areas of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. The project will help Palestinian families in need meet the costs of repairing their damaged homes or find alternative housing.

AFSC sees the home reconstruction project as an emergency plan that will contribute to the improvement and rebuilding of family and community life in the areas affected by the destruction. AFSC has a long history of working to halt home demolition. This reconstruction project offers one way for activists to come together and build peace.

Donations should be payable to AFSC, marked "Palestine Reconstruction Fund," and mailed to AFSC/Development, 1501 Cherry St., Philadelphia PA 19102. To contribute using Visa or Mastercard, call 888/533-2372, ext. 1.
