Iraqimemorial.org is an online exhibition of and ongoing call for participation to artists, designers, architects, or other creative individuals or collaborators to propose concepts for the creation of memorials to the many thousands of Iraqi civilians killed in the War in Iraq.

As of 2008, estimates run from 80,000 to over 655,000 deaths in Iraq of non-combatants. Iraqimemorial.org invites artists from all over the world to propose memorials to the victims of a war who will likely never be recognized through official processes.

Memorials exist for a variety of reasons: to create an opportunity for the contemplation of loss; to honour sacrifice; to celebrate heroism; and to consecrate a process of mourning that is ongoing and public.

We seek artistic works that will recognize and reveal the true cost of this war.

March 19th, 2008, is the submission deadline for your work to be included in the "First Juror's Review," but proposals are welcome after this date as well.
